Controlling who can message you

Last updated

Message request settings

By default, only your connections can message you directly. Others send a message request that you can accept or decline.

Changing your message settings

1. Go to Settings > Privacy > Messages

2. Choose who can send you direct messages:

- Connections only (default)

- Everyone — Open DMs to all Swivvia members

- No one — Disable all incoming messages

Message requests

When someone you do not follow tries to message you:

• The message appears in your Requests folder

• You can accept, decline, or report it

• The sender is not notified of your decision

Filtering message requests

Go to Settings > Privacy > Message Requests to:

• Auto-filter requests that contain links

• Auto-filter requests from accounts with no profile photo

• Auto-filter accounts created in the last 30 days

Blocking vs. restricting messages

Blocking prevents all contact. If you want to still interact publicly but stop DMs, use message settings rather than blocking.
