Copyright strikes and content removal
Last updated
What is a copyright strike?
A copyright strike or warning means content associated with your Swivvia account was removed or restricted after we received a copyright complaint or identified a possible intellectual property violation.
Review the notice sent to your account email. It identifies the affected content, explains the action taken, and includes any available appeal instructions.
What to do after receiving a strike
1. Read the full notice and identify the removed post, image, video, audio, or profile content.
2. Do not repost the same material unless you own the rights or have permission to use it.
3. Save documentation showing ownership, a license, written permission, or another lawful basis for using the content.
4. If you believe the claim or removal was a mistake, submit a [copyright appeal](/copyright/appeal).
Repeated or serious copyright violations may lead to additional content removals or account restrictions. The action that applies to your account is stated in your notice.
Report content that infringes your copyright
If someone posted your copyrighted work without permission, submit the [copyright complaint form](/copyright/form). Include the original work, the Swivvia content URL, your contact information, and the required legal declarations.
Before submitting an appeal
Only appeal when you have a good-faith reason, such as owning the work, having permission or a valid license, or believing the complaint identified the wrong content. Swivvia cannot provide legal advice.
